everyone knows the meaning of “today sucks,” right?

It’s later at night. I’m tired. I’ve had an terribly long day. And pretty much the majority of today has sucked. There you have it. Anyway. We’ve taken a break from the Old Testament lately at our Bible study and have been watching Nooma videos. We watched one tonight about Breathing (Breath) and how constant that is and how God is there as constant as our breath. Hard to see that sometimes. But He is, in a way. Of course, always.

That’s my right brain reflection for today.

Also, I just had a discussion with Adam about art masters. (you people who roll your eyes at my artiness can skip this…) Of course the artist that I find as the most masterful is Rembrandt. And Adam says there can’t be any artist that is more masterful that Rembrandt and he urged me to name one. And I said maybe others could argue Picasso, but I can’t really come up with another one. Maybe you can.

I’ve also been reading this retired minister’s blog. I find many of his reflections interesting. Sometimes hit or miss for me but at least I thought I’d pass it along.

May you get a minor glimpse of peace today. Or maybe a major one?

(BTW… this blog is under a bit of construction… :)

note of thanks

just a quick note saying thank you for being here and reading. I wade through the web daily, read blogs, and learn about others. however, I hope the web in some way can draw us together in ways we couldn't maybe have before. so... read, leave a comment, start a discussion. hopefully we can meet off the web in person or start a relationship that never would have existed otherwise. this is just my three cents! thanks.

YAY! The right brain is emerging from the left brain eclipse! =)

I wish I could comment on artists. I did take a Renaissance Art History class way back when…I really remember liking Giotto’s frescos in Florence. But as for what it means to be masterful in art…ummm…can I bring this back to the beauty of the respiratory system?

Didn’t we decide way back when I was in Romania that we were going to have coffee?

I don’t roll my eyes at your artsy-ness… I’m just intimidated by it! I think when God gave you an double portion of art talent and appreciation, he took that portion straight out of me before I ever left the womb! Well, maybe not the appreciation part… I appreciate art. But I think Norman Rockwell is masterful, so what do I know?

@ Hannah – actually another friend that was with Adam and I during the discussion mentioned Norman Rockwell. For his genre, he was pretty masterful in my opinion. He honed in on very specific type of art and there are tons of people that love his illustrations. He’s really an American icon. See… you can join in the discussion just fine. ;) lol

Yay, when do we discuss masterful paper-towel dabbing art?

There are many artists to enjoy and appreciate for different reasons such as attention to detail, colors, textures and moods. I especially lean toward impressionism, such as Van Gogh, Starry Nights and Irises as well as Water Lillies and Wild Poppies by Monet, and Two Dancers in Blue by Degas. Others that speak to my senses are Cassatt, Manet, Morisot, and Renoir.
