What would you do if…

What woud you do if you didn’t have to do it perfectly? letter I received this letter in the mail at work. Sent from Denver, but it didn’t have a return address. It is a card, with no writing inside. Just my address hand-written on the front. It was weird, however, the weirdness has turned into an inspiration.

I am a perfectionist. At times I think that’s an understatement. But this letter has given me a bit of inspiration to not be quite as extreme of a perfectionist. I didn’t even tweak the scan of the card that is shown here (even though the background is streaky). See, I’m trying.

So, it also inspired me to get this website up and running (leaving out ooooh so many details) and just to start. So, here I am–back on the web. And there you are reading this!

(Just so you know, friend, I think I know who you are who sent the card. But I do thank you.)

I’m passing it along. My valentine letter from me to you. Maybe it will be your best valentine? Your most inspirational?: What would YOU do if you didn’t have to do it perfectly? What would YOU do if you could just do it and do it today?

(By the way, since I’m doing this and not doing it perfectly, this website does not work in Windows on Internet Explorer very well. And many many links don’t work. I’ll get to it when I get to it. “wink”)

note of thanks

just a quick note saying thank you for being here and reading. I wade through the web daily, read blogs, and learn about others. however, I hope the web in some way can draw us together in ways we couldn't maybe have before. so... read, leave a comment, start a discussion. hopefully we can meet off the web in person or start a relationship that never would have existed otherwise. this is just my three cents! thanks.

Yes, perfectionism can be paralyzing. Half the time, what looks like less than perfect to us looks amazing to others. I love your new website! =)

Welcome back, friend! I’ve missed you! I would host people in my home more often. We used to have people over all the time, but now the house is always messy because of the kids and I’m embarrassed of it. We still have people over somewhat frequently, but I hate that I stress so much about cleaning before they come. I wish I felt comfortable just opening the door and exposing all our domestic filth to the world!

I believe you should always go the extra mile and give your very best, but it is crucial to find the balance between living each day to its fullest or being drug down by perfectionism for your life to have the purpose and meaning that God intended for you. Of course, this is much easier said than done, I know, I still struggle with perfection on many “angles” even at a half a century. As you get older, thankfully, you do mellow some, due to moving slower and only being able to accomplish so much in a certain amount of time, or your energy level decreases or both. *smile Never forget to put a silly hat on, do a couple of snazzy dance steps, always have a song in your heart and praises on your lips,… being perfect can wait. *huggles
